Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans with grease and parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Mix in buttermilk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and vinegar until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix until just combined. Add green food coloring.
  6. Divide batter between prepared pans and bake for about 28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, let cakes cool in pans for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In another bowl, beat together softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar while mixing on low speed.
  9. Pour in heavy cream and continue mixing until light and fluffy.
  10. Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a greaseproof board, spreading buttercream on top, adding the second layer, and covering the entire cake with remaining buttercream using piping bags to decorate.
